Toyota Recall

Saw this on the news before about Toyota recalling over 2million cars with suspected accelerator pedal fault.

Yaris, IQ, Auris, Avensis are affected but how do you new Yaris owners know?

I guess Toyota will send you a letter to take your car back! Scary indeed. :o

There are a few web sites where you can check the exact makes/models, chassis number ranges, etc of recalls.

The AA does one here...

Everyone will get a registered letter from Toyota, assuming that they already have your details from somewhere.

The BBC news site said this could go right back to 2005 models.

I'm not too worried - its come from the US and they're always over the top there....

Even though there's a recall, there's also a message saying that there's not been a single incident in the UK..

We'll just have to wait and see.

If there was any sort of issue it would be all over these forums already and I don't recall it ever being mentioned by anyone over the past five years.... That probably says it all...

In the US, a manufacturer was sued - and the claimant won in court - because the owners manual of a campervan didn't tell him that you shouldn't engage cruise control and go into the back to make a coffee. He did this and the campervan crashed... What more do you need to know about the American claim and blame culture....
