From a news release about a recall which was for the USA To a European news release that is like a disaster for Toyota!!!

I have a Rav 4 which is great and still is I purchased from new 2005, my wife has a Yaris SR purchased new 2007, it is our 10th new Toyota since 1995 NEVER had a problem with them, great cars.

From the first news release about the recall in USA we were not worried as we heard only those cars made in the UK were a problem for Europe ours were both made in Japan.

The news release re the USA was about the floor mat which we always believed was possible and made sure it was always in position.

NOW according to the Toyota Release it includes most models including the Rav 4 since 2005 plus again to our horror all Yaris's have another problem with the seat belt apparently the tensioner can catch fire, and has done!!! AND an accelerator pedal that can cause problems if worn ?

What a totally appalling situation to have TWO Toyota's both have APPARENTLY defectives that are serious.

We have had Toyota's for years and WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.

We have had the Yaris Main dealer serviced from new, my Rav after 3 years is serviced by an alternative Toyota garage which I have much more faith in.

However what a pile of sheet !!!

Question what is the best site for the correct advice?

Your cars will be recalled regardless of their age for matters affecting safety.

IMHO the best site for early warnings is this one as there is always somebody on the lookout. We're like a bunch of meercats when it comes to "matters Toyota". Don't worry I think our Toyotas are still better than any other brand.

This sticky throttle is worse for our US friends because they have automatics. If in the very unlikely event yours does stick (it has never been mentioned here as far as I am aware) just stick your foot on the clutch and coast to the side of the road or simply stop in a safe place. In the days of throttle cables they would often stick and I can't remember it causing any risk to life or limb - it gave you something else to fix over the weekend because for sure there was always something!!!

and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE. if the engine blows it blows. turn it off you will lose power steering and servo on your brakes.!

Silly question. Why has the US only got the floor mat recall? We, the UK, had that 3 years ago. (Presuming they are the same problem)
