Xtr Door Flashes

I've just had a look at a 2008 XTR in silver.

Lovely car but I'm not too sure about the dull grey plastic door flashes.

I'm sure that they give the door panels some added protection from

careless door openers in car parks but they seem to cheapen the

look of the car. It's not a big issue I suppose, but can they be easily removed?

They should be held on with double sided trim tape if they are original Toyota parts. Usual method for removal involves heating gently with a hair drier or hot air gun on low setting [to avoid damage to paint] and prising away gently with a plastic spatula or similar.

Any adhesive residue from the tape can be removed with a suitable solvent.

Take it slowly, starting from one end.

Do you know if they have been there since new? They could have been added to cover door dings and dents.

Thanks for your replies,

Its better if we have the choice of taking them off. The car was very tempting but

a bit more than we wanted to spend (to fit a towbar was another £400 as well)

Still thinking about it...
