Throttle Body Problem.

Hi, I'm really hopeing someone can help me with this one!

The engine management light came on, on my mrk3 roadster when the engine started to idle roughly, so I took it in to Toyota. They stuck it on the Analyser, which said it was a problen with the Idle speed control valve on the throttle body. The problem was that on the throttle body comes as one unit, you cannot buy the sensor separatly. I fell of my stool when they quoted me £1200 to replace it!! I have been running about for a while with the engine management light on, as running a little roughly at the moment doesn't seem to warrent throwing that much money at it.

Can anyone confirm that this is the only way forward, or could there be something else done or a throttle body sorced elseware?

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but have you tried cleaning the MAF? (Mass Air Flow sensor) CLICKY these can get a bit clogged up especially with some of the oil soaked air filters and cause rough running etc, I'm not saying this is your problem but it wouldn't hurt to try
