Temp In Car Goes Only Quarter Way Up ?

Hi again...

I checked the coolant and there was nothing in there... It has been in the garage for past month as some dude smashed into it, so his insurance has fixed the car etc... however i've reported it back to them today and am taking it back in on thursday for full check up. I dont think they have topped up the coolant since replacing the radiator back!!

My last question is.. that since yesterday i have topped up the coolant, and since yesterday the temp gauge goes only quarter way up?? the car heats up as normal.. but i've left it on for a while and have taken it for a spin..usually it would take about 8-9 mins to warm up completely and the temp would be about half.. but now its only going a quarter way up??

any ideas???

Or you could have an air lock, either way take it back and get them to check
