Corolla Carburetor Problems. Help

My 1989 Corolla runs perfectly after warm-up but first thing in the morning it has emotional problems. The choke appears to work perfectly and the engine starts immediately when cold but in a couple of seconds you can smell gas and it developes a dead miss on the left end cylinder that will clear up as soon as you start driving down the road or hold the engine speed at about 3000 rpm. The choke is not sticking and you can open the choke flap wide open while the engine is running with no change in the problem. There is no gas leaking out of the carb. All cylinders have 185 pounds of compression. The air filter is black almost completely stopped up within 3000 miles. Anybody? Help!

it could be ur timming/electrics.

but most likly ur secodaries are stuck. they should open up at 3000rpm.

get ur carbie overhauled. or take it off urself and spray it with wd40 till everything start working, then put grease or sumthing on the moving parts.

Hi Mick 24

the corolla is an EE 90 with 2E engine series, with manual transmission 4-speed. I am located in Karachi Pakistan. I had bought the car in 1988 from Japan and still like it. Shoib
