Celica Steering Allignment Problem

Hey people, im hoping someone on here can help me.

I hit my car off a kerb pretty hard, destroying one of my alloys. This has put my steering off. I had done a similar thing last year as well (silly I know) and last time I just got the steering realligned. This time however, the adjuster on the steering arm is already fully wound out, with no more threads left on the bar, and needs to go even further. In addition to this, my steering will turn a slight bit more right than it does left, and also makes a groaning nose (like an old ship door opening in a movie) when you turn slowly.

Is this a steering rack failure of some sort? Anyone had this happen, and got it fixed?

Car is a 1995 Celica (Gen 6).

are you loosing any PS fluid?

sound's like a bent steering arm so could possibly try replacing that, couldn't say for certain without seeing the car tho

  • 3 weeks later...

Mrs ORC hit the kerb in my SR, it was out by 8mm, managed to get it tracked back to the right position. Buggered the alloy though.
