Rav In Winter

Hi Guys

The weather does not spoil us during several days (even on the South)with havy snow and hard frost repeatedly changed by snow melting, so all roads look like a two ways railway, all cars drive one by one and no chance to overtake. The snow ply looks like a cut lawn by the cars bottoms. It's a pleasure to use 4x4 to surmount snowy and icy road obstacles. It was disclosed the road service has forgotten to treat city roads and one can can to skate right on roads :D

The RAV behavior on road is well predicted and all systems performance look in order -- giving no slide both on downhill and uphill. Yes the winter tyres assist well with good deep shape of bars (if that is correct wording), a rear wheels el clutch (manually switched ON) is being switched OFF by ECU subject the car drives well. I drive during this first winter and very satisfied with this model. WHat are your experience MATES in the UK ???

Cheers/Igor

Quite agree, igormus. I have found all my RAVs to be superb in snow and ice. It feel really secure, and I was amazed at how well it performed not just in snow, but even on ice. The only thing to watch is the depth of snow because ground clearance is not huge and there is a fair amount of plastic on the underside.

I had a test drive in a Honda CRV a few years ago, and although their 4WD system was said to be just the same as the RAV4, I found it pretty hopeless by comparison.

From other posts on this forum I get the impression that most people have been really pleased with their RAVs this winter. Luckily for people living in the UK most of the snow has now disappeared from the roads, but who knows, it may not be over yet: it's only early February! There may be more fun (and no small amount of smugness) in store for us yet.

Must say ive only got good things to say about the car in the snow and ice too , as long as you dont get over confident they grip great . My dads even thinking to buy a one after being in mine over the past month of bad weather .

overall verdict ........GREAT

Impressed with mine. Never a problem with either snow or ice.

As others have said, it's easy to get overconfident and one unseen patch of black ice has cost me my insurance excess.

No damage to the RAV but a cracked Skoda bumper of the car in front turns out to be very expensive because IT'S AN INSURANCE JOB.
