Am I wrong, or do I sense that this "precision cut steel bar" gets banged in to spread the plastic casing and prevent binding?!?

If I'm right, I don't want a lump of metal hammered into my accelerator pedal (I have two cars potentially effected by this). I want a properly designed assembly with correct tolerances!

Precision engineering at it's best MrT!

Instead of starting a new topic I hope unklian doesn’t mind me posting another video on his thread.

Once the accelerator is out of the car (2 bolts on the firewall) the fix takes less than 2 minutes.

Here it is...

This for me gives the most in-depth pictures of a Toyota pedal dismantled........

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/exclusive...ota-gas-pedals/

I now have concerns over what the Toyota mod for this pedal will be, seeing it stripped down ,is the plan to put a fat steel washer under the spring, this would make the pedal slightly stiffer to press yet would give the spring more force to return the pedal to idle speed.

Given the huge amount of negative coverage Toyota has got over this brake pedal issue, I would doubt very much they would decide on a fix without doing the due diligence to verify it works first. The worst thing that could happen would be to put in place a fix that doesn't do what it is supposed to do so I'm sure alot of engineers have worked hard on this solution to make sure they get it right first time.
