Front Lights Prob

Hi

I've had my 55 plate 2.0 d4d t-spirit since Sept last year. The only prob I've had so far is the main & dipped beam nearside going in quick succession. Noticed a few people on here had used Halfrauds rather than Mr T so I popped into my local one this morning only to have one of their 'mechanics' open the bonnet, glance under the engine cover without even unclipping it & saying "it's too difficult to access, take it to a garage". From what I understand the nearside's the easiest of the two.

I was suitably annoyed, how come other forum members have had their lights done at their local Halfrauds, if it was an easy job I'd have done it myself but I've got hands like spades and the manual dexterity of a pengiun? Why spend zillions advertising a service on TV when they're not even prepared to have a proper look (this will be the subject of a fairly sh!tty email to their customer service dept later)?

Anyhow, on the way home I noticed my local independent garage was open on a Sat morning, main reason I didn't try there first was I work all week and have to leave stuff like this to the weekend but didn't realise they were doing Sat mornings now. Pulled in, one of the lads there sorted it out in 10 mins. Mind you his nickname is 'ET' and not just because he's short and ugly, the guy's missed his vocation, he should have been a Gynacologist.

Think I'll keep any further work in the local economy in future.

It's actually not that difficult on the avensis. You have to remove those stupid clips to take off the engine cover, and then the plastic cover over the rear of the lights. Once that's done it's quite easy, though you may wish for smaller hands.

I beg to differ but that's imo :)
