T180 Gear Oil

Wondering if there are any brains I can pick ?

My Rav is coming up to its 40K service, where I think the gear oil is changed ?

Notice on Honest John he states in his T180 evaluation that the 'Gearchange quality of T180 manual improved by LV75WMT gear oil'.

Has anybody any experience of this ?

Regards

Lordy - be dead careful what you put in that box as it is a very high tech (twin countershaft as you know) and is full of different materials - plastics, alloys etc and you need to be sure that anything else won't cause damage. Kingo will send the genuine stuff to you in the post and it is really easy to add with that bottom cover off. I think there are photo's somewhere.

Having said all that, there is new information that the oil in the 6 speed box is "for life" and need only be checked for level with no recommendation for replacement. I personally am a bit old fashioned and have changed mine already but if I were to have another motor, I might stretch it out until the third service (which is the engine oil change small service) and do it then. After that I might run it another four and so on.

All the other transmission oil still needs to be changed every other service.
