Grinding Brakes

I bought my 2007 Yaris recently and have noticed when I'm braking slowly there is a low level grating noise. I don't get it when braking from a higher speed. I've been told it may be rust on the brake pads as the pads were as good as new but it's been three months now and still the noise.

Anyone got any other ideas?

This issue will come back over and over, if its just rust. My Passat does 800-1000 miles a week and if its left for a couple of days the grinding can appear, however it does go very quickly.

Have you had the brakes cleaned up i.e pads out/hubs stripped and given a blast with brake cleaner?

I've heard some advices regarding smearing them with magnesium paste but I am not sure if it does not do more damage than good. I'd search around.

But it's the same with my discs, horrible sound when the rust comes off.
