Battery/immobiliser Issues

Hi All

I know this is a question that has been posted numerous times, however I can't seem to find the answer that I'm looking for (maybe the answer I want doesn't actually exist!!!)

Anyway - the remote key fob died months back so we have just been using the key to access the car which has been fine. We had a few weeks where we didn't use the rav and unfortunately the Battery has died. We have tried to jump start it however the alarm system and immobiliser has now kicked in and nothing happens apart from the alarm goes off - have turned this off using the little round key under the bonnet so at least we haven't got all the noise. I brought I replacement Battery for the key fob today and it seems to be working ok with the little red light coming on but it has no effect what so ever on the car. Just continually flashing lights. When I turn the key in the ignition there seems to be power there as the stereo comes on and the electric windows etc work but nothing else. We have now removed the Battery and have it on charge as I read previously this might help to cancel out any error codes (?)

If this doesn't work, what's the next step?? I have no idea what make the alarm/immobiliser system is and there is nothing written on it to give any indications, the key fob is black, about the size of a matchbox with 2 square black buttons next to each other! Is there any way to re-sync the fob with the car??

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any advice, which will be greatly received.

Chelle

Hi, no both the buttons are black, photo attached (hopefully!!)

It's an M reg - 1995.

Also, re-attached the Battery with no success :(

Thanks again

Chelle

On a 4.2 you hold both buttons until the indicators flash back at you. Its worth a try.
