Toyota Prado 2007 with 4.0 petrol engine and automatic transmission.

Car seems to work just fine. But revs are going up for approximately 2 seconds while gearbox shifts to 5th gear at about 60 km/h. Seems like it switches to neutral before changing to 5th… Please help to find the cause.

Thanks a lot in advance!

hello mate

this model is normally sold here as well.

the friction discs clutch might not fully clutched by operation of control valve or thhere might be a problem with discs slidiing on the either shaft oor housing.

i do not see other problem if all other gears shifting is in order.

Good luck/Igor

I though it could be the clutch problem. Nevertheless, do you think that there might be an electronic control unit problem? Any suggestions on possible repair?

hello

you have to evaluate this issue having understood how does it work. if oil control valve get a delayed signal -- there might be a problem, as well. but firstly this must be verified in toyota service. the mechanical issues with discs are very seldom, so i deem the only problem might with in control circuit giving a delayed signal. in case the discs issue would be proved then the only way to repair is to disassemble an auto gear box to reach this discs unit. ideem the cure is either change discs as a kit or to find a barb/s(?).cheers/Igor
