Disconnect Door Open Warning Light

Recommended Posts

Posted

The door open warning light often stays on even when all doors are closed. This is draining the Battery over 3-4 days of non use. I am failrly certain it is the boot catch that is not working. How do I disconnect the boot sensor or the whole door open warning light system. Thanks in advance.

If the Carina is the same as the Avensis the boot light is controlled by a switch under the bootlid catch.Just disconnect the wire coming to the switch or tape down the switch.Im sure you could adjust the switch to ensure it works correctly.

The early Avensis is almost the same as the Carina E. Most difference is the bodywork.

I have similar problem but it is the rear doors that sometimes fail to unlit the rooflight in the car.

thanks for your advice. Can I check if you are talking about the light in the boot? My problem is with the warning light on the dashboard that often stays on when all doors are closed.

The dash warning light operates via the door and boot lid switches so if any are faulty the warning light will fail to extinguish.:)
