A/c Light Flash

Hi Guys,

The A/C light has started to flash when we switch it on. This indicates a problem with the air-conditioning system, but does anyone know what the problem could be? Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know how to diagnose it?

It's recently been in for a service and timing belt change - i was told all filters were changed as part of the service - not sure if this includes the air conditioning filter, but if it does then could incorrect fitting cause an issue with the system?

Got a huge bill for the timing belt, MOT, service (including a couple of tyres), and the thought of another expensive bill for an air conditioning compressor or something else is quite unpleasant!

Thanks in advance

Wayne

I`m not 100% sure, but it could be a warning that there is no gas in the system, this will shut down the compressor, as running without gas will not do it any good. Maybe the garage had to undo an aircon pipe to change the can belt, and never re-gassed it.

Hi Wayne,

if you need the A/C gasing there is a commercial refrigeration company just by the Valley Parade football stadium that does re-gassing at very reasonable rates. They can check the pressure for you as well.

If getting your air-con serviced it cannot be properly checked by pressure - it has to be done by volume or weight so always ensure you get it done by a bona-fide air-con specialist.:)

hello mate

this sygnal might be obtained from a gas pressure/flow sensor. have a look on the refrigerant flow round glass (when A/C is ON + engine running)--> use flash light and spot its beam to see if liquid is transfered or not. Normally there must ve vissible a liquid pulsation flow towards of throttle valve -- in case of negative -- there might be a problem alerted by this sensor mounted as IN LINE with this glass. Cheers/Igor
