Auris - Goodbye

Just traded in my Auris 1.6 TR - not a bad car but let down by the issues I have outlined on here many times - poor interior being the main one - disposed of it just as accelerator issue raised - needed to free up some money so now got an 06 plate Clio 1.6 Dynamique - first thing I notice is that interior quality (nearly 4 years old) is much improved and still looks almost new - so much better than the auris

Looks like they have partially addressed the interior issue on facelift model - good luck to you auris owners as I doubt I will be back here for a while (or purchasing another toyota until they up the interior quality)

I hope you have better luck with the Clio than you did with your Auris. Did you research the Renault forums before making the change ?

Do this age of Clio suffer from the bonnet randomly opening?

Small french cars are OK IMO/Experience, big and french don't even bother  ;)

If the Aurus interior is so poor yhy did you buy it in the firstplace?

I could understand if things go wrong after purchace but a poor interior will always be a poor interior.

So,

Let me get this right. You traded in a Toyota for.................a Renault.Good luck with that then.

I think the real issue here is that the Renault feels better built!

It backs up everything I have said about Toyota's build quality recently!

Another Toyota customer switches.

I swapped my Auris 1.6TR for a Subara Legacy SpecB last May and have not looked back. My wife still has her Auris 1.6TR and loves it. I would consider another Toyota in the future but the quality is not what it once was.

I have to say I agree with this but wish you all the best, one thing I will say is I have just taken this quote from the recall thread and it does not look like the grass is any greener at Renault

In answer to your closing comment, I have owned a Renault Scenic previous to my Toyota, and I have got to say Renualts are the biggest pile of steaming brown stuff I have ever had the misfortune of driving. A good driving car, but just a shame that every component was made from sub standard material and felt like it would break after prolonged use. This in conjuction with poor dealerships just makes the experience "UNFORGETABLE". All inherent faults with the car were swept under the carpet until they they were put right at the owners cost or identified by "Watchdog".

In stark contrast to this, I feel Toyota have handled this recall professionally and efficiently and dont deserve the battering they are getting currently. It is only that the cars are normally so reliable that this has made headline news.

Now IMO this is what I would expect of a Renault but I do hope you prove me wrong with the Clio

If you're so hung up on interior, buy a Mercedes(just an example). Interior never was Toyota's strongest side. Or definitily not in their cheaper end.

Not the only person to go from Toyota to Renault mate. I went from a 2008 SR180 to a 2002 Megane hatch petrol and had less problems with it and better mpg!

Too slow though so now Im hopefully getting a 2000 Clio 172!
