Morning Everyone,

Can anyone recommend a good Battery for Gen7 VVTi Pre-facelift, I know they're mostly the same, but I was wondering if there any advantages of getting a higher rated one and is it worth it, and what brands better or does it really make a difference

Thanks in advance for your help and advice

Sorry forget to ask if it is easy to change and if there is anything I should be aware of when I do

hey dude its so easy to change its as simple as unscrew connectors to batt remove plate if it has one may need unscrewing aswell take out batt place new one in tighten plate if needed re connect wires to batt as long as u make sure new batts not touching anything u will be fine if u have a local bullseye motorworld or Halfords nip in tell em what car u have they will get u the right one and in case of bullseye or mororworld will even fit it for free if u ask hope this helps

Toyota Dealerships are remarkably competitive when it comes to Batteries. The type you need for a pre face lift is a 005 (face lifts take the smaller 053), and should cost around £50 with a three year guarantee. Fitting is dead easy unless you have an upper Strut Brace fitted, and the only tool needed is a 10mm ring spanner, I always remove the Earth lead first and refit last.

Thanks, I was hoping it would be as easy as it looked! I was worried about alarm reset type problems

Hi,

ive just replaced my Battery on my '01 gen 7, i do mostly stop start driving and i got a calcium Battery instead of lead. Gives you a bigger start up boost from cold. my celica appears to start alot better with this type. Got mine from Halfords, 5-10 min job to install. Just another option to consider.
