Rattle From The Air Vent

Hello,

as many users here, I have got a rattling noise in my car which drives me mad.

The sound is coming from the air vent left to the steering wheel (LHD) and if I close the vent (with the small wheel on the left) it becomes about half as loud.

It occurs when the car is warming up, about 15min. after I left at home. Sometimes it fades after a while but mostly it continues, especially on more uneven undergrounds (those money-saving low quality highways).

Does anybody has got the same problem and knows how to fix it?

My warranty is going to expire this year and I do not want to pay for that my dealer is unable to fix it.

Thank you very much!

This is a common problem, though with my second Auris the noise is much less than the first.

If my memory serves me right, there is a modification kit avaiable to minimise this isue, however the dashboard needs to be opened up to install the kit.

My first Auris ended up with a marked dashboard, and more rattles, as it was taken apart so many times to try and prevent the noises coming from it.

My advice would be if the noise isn't too bad live with it.

i had something similar and the fault was in the motor where a bit of tape was adrift on the motor spindle and was making a noise. the noise was made worse by the air ducting amplifying the noise up to the vent. worth a wee look in the motor. only five mins to drop it down from the heater box

Interesting, I should have a look at it.

But it sounds like your problem was occuring all the time, wasn't it?

Mine does exactly the same , there is also a rattle developing somewhere else , i can't make my mind up wether its coming from behind the speedo area or to my right from the door area , or both .

I simply deal with it by turning the radio up a bit
