Has Your Recall Been Done ?

I emailed my local dealer yesterday with my chassis number and asked if they have the parts in yet to fix the throttle pedals, well this morning i received a call and was offered an afternoon time slot to carry out the work. Arrived at 3.30 and on my way by 4.15, all i have to show for my visit is a green sticker with a tick on it, also a dealer letter headed paper to say the work has been done, although i had no problems with the throttle pedal you do feel a sense of relief when driving away from the garage :) .

On a side note, i would advise anyone wanting to get this job done ASAP, you will have to do all the running yourself and chase the dealer, otherwise you could be waiting for a letting in the post for weeks to come  .

All in all well done to Toyota for getting my car sorted out, even though i was more than capable of putting the gear lever in neutral if the worst had happened.

I never ceases to amaze me how complicated they have made such a simple item.

What happened to a piece of round bar with two right angle bends in it, a pedal with rubber at one end and a slot with a hole to take the pip of a throttle cable at the other ;)

I guess they could have put the variable resistor on the throttle body and not in a plastic box mounted to the throttle pedal but then cable do stick , so whats the worst of the options :(

Thank God I bought a manual Aygo - they're not affected. :)

My theory that MMT's / Automatics are more complicated and

more prone to be problematic has been vindicated. :(

The MMT is not at fault here, it is the throttle. Please do not spread unfounded roumours ;)

How do you expect garages to make money on servicing with that sort of solution that will not go wrong Les :P

I got the letter the other day, they can have the car back when it goes in for it's next service and not before. Not unless the free bottle of bubbly is on offer again, which it doesn't seem to be considering the first post.

Andy.
