I have an 07 YARIS and I need a new washer pump. I have called both local dealers and they have confirmed that a new pump will cost me just under £105. OH Yes £105.

I'v had a merc in the past and they only wonted £35 and a pattern part will only cost £15 to £20. Oh yes cant get a pattern part for an 07 YARIS. Look I dont have a problem with paying a little over the odds as it comes in a box with TOYOTA on the side but £105 thats theft.

Join the crowd of those who have to pay ridiculous prices with Jap cars.

I got quoted £80 for an engine oil dipstick and £35 per valve for the 4A-GE. It's cheaper for me to buy HKS valves!

Just something you have to love with unfortunately. :(

The mercs will use a stadnard Bosch part that will probably be the same accross the VAG cars, BMW and Merc. The Toyota will probably use a Nippon Denso part specific to Toyota only... Hence the price.

At least a set of tyres don't cost you £1200!

Not a Toyota, but my daughter has a Hyundai Coupe 1999 reg. She was getting it done for the Nct & one headlight couldn't be adjusted coz the adjuster was broken. I brought it to the Hyundai dealers for her & they rang around. They reckoned that adjusters couldn't be bought separately from the Headlight & we'd have to get the entire unit. They feared that it would have to be brought in coz they thought that there wouldn't be one in stock for that vintage. They found a couple but the cost was Euro450 :o

It had to be done so I brought it up & they had found a separate adjuster :D Bad news was that it cost about Euro120

I know both Misubishi and Honda both use some Valeo electrical ancillaries so it may be worth checking out the pump itself for signs of a makers mark. Many European cars use Valeo stuff so you may find a cheaper equivalent.:)
