Hi Daz, i would start with taking the pads out and check them. They sound like they could be worn.

Whilst you do, you can also give the callipers a good clean up and check the discs.

The noise when cornering could be a worn wheel bearing though, so check these aswell. ;)

Agree with Raeman.

Sound like you may have a partially seized caliper and/or one inside pad worn down to the metal.. - hence the noise...

Is it common for caliper to seize on the rear pads look ok from what I can see

Have you taken the wheel off - removed the pads and physically checked all aspects of the braking system are free and working??:)

My t-sport rear brakes are audible and have been since the car was brand new. They work fine, it's just you can hear them working.

As for the noise when cornering particularly in the wet, it could be down to rust on the rear brake disc guards. The cornering force throws the guard closer to the disc and when the 2 connect you hear an awful scraping noise. Try bending them back with your hand so they clear the disc a bit more. A lot of flaky rust will probably fall down.

Just what worries me is the face that the other the face of the disc is like normal and one side has lightly corroeded and never worn off

Classic signs of a partially stuck caliper.

Time to strip down, check parts, carefully copperease all moving part s and backs of pads#..and reassemble.

If you've not done it before, or don't know what I am talking about, a garage job as bodges to brakes = dangerous.

# taking care to avoid all braking surfaces of course.. (motherhood and Apple pie stuff apologies)
