Driver's Door Switch

Hi, newbie here after some info from you knowledgable people.

Better Half's 2004 XT3 5-door has a fault on the multi-window switch on the driver's door. The switch that operates the passenger side rear window seems to have come out of place and no longer works the window. It has always been a bit odd to operate as if a pivot had broken but now the window wont operate even on its own door switch, which it did before. I'm guessing that the drivers switch is the culprit.

I can imagine that a new part from Toyota would be quite expensive so was wondering if the switch can be repaired or if any kind soul here can direct me to a source of used parts for this model?

Thanks in anticipation of any advice you can give. ;)

Welcome to the club.

Wouldn't do any harm to carefully pry out the whole unit and have a look - the switch assembly is full dismantlable [is that a word?], right down to the circuit board.

Not sure how to get the unit out of a 4.2 as only worked on a 4.3 but you may be able to repair rather than replace. If you do take the unit out, tether the harness if you unplug it so it doesn't drop back inside the door. The individual switches sometimes come up on e-bay.

Good luck

Cheers Davrav, I wasn't aware that they were dismantlable (good enough word for me). I'll have a look sometime and see what I find. Maybe the individual switch will be available from Mr. Toyota, shouldn't be too pricey just for that.

Thanks again.
