What sort of problems? Kerbs & speed bumps spring to mind

I've already got problems with standard springs and kerbs, and as I'm considering lowering the car 25mm it's going to be a nightmare

If it's jimma's problems with his shocks then you've got an answer in that thread. You should uprate the shocks if you do anything serious to the springs. Some spring sets are designed to work with standard shocks (for example TTE make 25mm lowered springs for the T25 Avensis specifically designed to work with the standard shocks) but you should really check it out - it's safer not to assume that the standard ones will survive new springs

your ride quality will drop a lot, i.e. you'll feel every bump in the road and hitting some potholes can feel like a sledgehammer blow...........

but it's totally worth it,your car not only looks better but the grip you gain will be awesome

just keep it slowish in residential areas were the majority of road imperfections are,and you'll be fine
