I'm having a similar problem. Does your alarm go off even once you've started the car? Mine does it even while i'm driving!!!

Did you used to get a beeping from the boot area when you parked up? I think those beeps were a signal that the alarms backup Battery was dying, and now its dead its going mental. I'm gonna try and get it booked in and have the siren replaced, hopefully it doesn't cost too much.

let us know if you have any luck with yours

That quiet beeping noise means you're trying to arm the alarm whilst a door, bonnet or boot is open - or aparently open.

Do you have a sunroof?

Do you have change in the centre tray near the gearstick?

I'm not sure thats the same beeping, because the one i'm talking about happens when i park up, i take turn the ignition off, and as soon as i remove the key the alarm starts beeping, beeps about 16 times.

well it used to do that anyway, now that the backup Battery is dead and its getting its power directly from the car Battery its setting the alarm off constantly. I've cobbled that theory together from a load of different posts i've read on several forums.

I've tried changing the Battery in my key fob, checked there's no change in the centre console and i don't have a sunroof.

i'm gonna have to wait a week or so till i can get the car booked in with Toyota. It is something you can do yourself, i believe the battery is built into the alarm unit itself, so you need to replace the whole thing, which is roughly £55. I would do it myself, but for the life of me i can't get the connectors on the back of the alarm off.

Was quite tempted to just cut the wires off as i don't really care about the alarm, but i don't know if cutting the alarm wires would disable the immobiliser?

the beeing when you take the key out of the ignition is when you press the keys when you take it out of the ignition. very easy to do without noticing, but it helps if you put it in the ignition one way rather than the other.

my alarm used to go off quite a lot, one thing i was told by someone in the toyota garage to avoid having coins or anything like it in the centre console cup holder as it will set it off. Im not sure if this was why mine was going off but it hasnt since!!!! So hope it helps.

Hi,

I had a similar problem recently with my Celica alarm (TVSS-IV). It was beeping 16 times from the siren unit indicating the Battery was nearly out.

I was quoted about 180 pounds from my local Toyota dealer for parts and labour to fit a new siren.

Unwilling to be so ripped off, I listened closely to the beeps, found out where the siren unit was and removed it.

Next I got a quote for a new unit (from a different Toyotal garage!) which was about 47 pounds. Not bad - but I thought I could save some more money, so took the old unit apart which was just a couple of screws. There is a Battery pack inside which you can't buy off the shelf but can get made up. Just look up 'Battery refurbishment' on the web.

I sent them the old battery and they replicated it.

The end result is that I have today reassembled the unit and replaced in the car and it works fine !!!

All for the cost of about 20 pounds !!!!

I was going to post this as a new post until I saw your problem and still think I may to let everyone know about how easy this is.

Chris.

Hold fire on replacing the siren Battery as I have done.

My alarm has just started going off for no reason.

Maybe it hasn't worked after all !
