My Gen 7 is what Mr T calls 'Carbon Blue' and is described on the V5 as 'Blue' trouble is on these dark days it looks black. Only had the car 7 weeks and been stopped twice by the boys in blue (actually black.. irony!!) who have obviously done a PNC check. Their first question is 'has it been resprayed sir?'. If you shine a torch at it you can see its blue. They usually walk away satisfied but what happens when one of them is havin a bad day? Anyone else have this problem? Should I get the V5 changed?

Dont touch the v5 because at the end of the day its blue. Ive got a blue one too and have to admit that it does look black in the dark. If one of them t055ers is having a bad day and they try to do you for having a blue car (one of the nicest colours in my opinion) it wont go anywhere. Just comply and be polite, it will get on there swede!!!

Storm in a teacup ;)

Update, pulled into the driveway on way home from work, 'excuse me sir can I have a word about your car?' answer 'no problem I'll just go in the house and get the v5' Yes pulled again, they were very nice and all that but I still find it to be a hassle. I live near the head quarters of the area police force and perhaps they have some training courses on at the moment. I have been advised to carry the V5 with me in the car to aviod a 'producer' but that makes me nervous in event of the car being broken into or stolen. Ah well, love the car so perhaps I should just put up with it.

Ah you will soon get used to it.....................don't worry about it!

Why not carry a photocopy of your V5 with "certain" information masked off!...................easy :)

.................Or, ask plod to update their all singing all dancing data base with the necessary relevant information on night time colour distortion ;)

I have been pulled a few times usually in the very early hours of the morning on the way to work and it is always to make sure I'm not nicking a "High profile sports car" which amuses me because it's only a Roadster  Still it makes me feel good for the rest of the day driving my "Special" car ;)

Some of us got it ;)

Storm Blue is just about the nicest colour a Gen7 can be supplied in.

Keep a record of how many times you are pulled over. Note the date/time and the officers number. If the number of times you are stopped starts to get silly just go into the local police station with your list and ask that every officer in the area is updated with the correct information about your car.

There must come a point where you will have a case for harassment if they continue to stop you after they have been satisfied that the car is OK more than ten or twenty times in one month.

It's nice to know that suspect cars are being stopped but once it is established that the car is not dodgy you would think there is some record of it.

Hi herts

Unfortunately no record of a car's legitimacy is kept against a registration post it being stop-checked. The principle reason for the stop won't be the colour it will be based on checking the vehicle isn't stolen/ being used in crime as little crooklets seem to have taken a shine to Japanese metal of late.
