Hi,

Well the missues came home yesterday, and since she is car-less, we did a bit of car shopping this afternoon...

Although looking at cars in the 1-2K range, the last garage had a sweet Paeso....

Of course, (ignoring the Astras etc) I went straight over, and was very impressed (I do like them)...

The g/f was smitten immediatly, and took it out for a drive, came back :D :D  ..

So guys, I need some advice, its a 97P, black (UK Spec I think), done about 70K.

Has electric windows/mirrors etc..

Its on at about 3k, I reckon we could get him down to 2,800-2,900, so is this a fair price??

Bodywork was in good condition, engine was a sweet runner, i couldnt spot any probs (plus get 6 month warranty), so any feedback welcome..

Oh, also, any known problems would be helpful...

And is it expensive to fix?? (due to its rareity?)

mines hit cira 87k and now the clutch is gone. so that might be something to consider. its about £130 from toyota i think.

apart from that, i think everything is typical toyota.... RELIABLE AS HELL!

as for the price, i personally think its a bit high considering its milage. i would have expected it to be in the region of £2.5k to be honest...

but hey, if its absolutely mint, then it could be worth the money... check the seats for wear and tear, as well as a shiny steering wheel. this could indicate (like on mine) the seo has had a hard life....

some people say the rear shocks have gone, but mine are fine.... even at the milage / abuse i have given it.

hope this helps...

Well, the interior was near enough perfect... the seats, pedals and steering wheel didn't show its mileage at all..

I only had a brief drive (the missues was enjoying it too much!), but it felt solid, and i couldnt spot anything that might be on the way out (the clutch was biting nicely).

The bodywork was mint, bar one small 'dint' that looked like a supermarket incident..

naaa, it is a ST.. but from your advice I think were going to try and barter him down a bit..

Sounds a fair price to me Fidge with the warranty.

SI would be advisable over the ST due to the ABS - as it's gonna be Mrs Fidgit's driving  :P But thats the only real difference - aside from rear spoiler & alloys - I've got some original 14's you might persuade me to sell if it came to it! :D

I'd check the rear shocks if nothing else, ohh!! & the cambelt should have been changed @ 60k.

Welcome to Paseo ownership. :group-cuddles:

BUY IT!!!!!

They are a cracking car, and parts are not that hard to come by, loads of compatible parts with other models, there was a sticky thread before the site crashed, Jamesb4uk may still have a copy of the list I emailed him

And they are certainly a bit more exclusive than an Astra

yep - i think things are pretty much covered here by everyone

& im agreeing with the rest of the lads - ive driven a 97st & the drive was sound....

(well till my mate got hit by a car & flipped it)

Daz - nahh mate - stupidly never saved it - & works keeping me too busy to create another one.

might take a few days off soon & work on another one.

seos arnt as common as civics, go for it.

its toyota - so you know it wont die in the next 10 years. its also been treated good, so no problems there.

Any other problems we can help you with. and you can do some easy mods on them (fun etc) without to much cash. Eg bodykits for this car are very cheap indeed.
