hi there, newbie here. i have a corolla 1.4 vvti, 2003 model, it has an exhaust on it that is in two parts, the front part has two cats and one silencer, and a back box, the front part is made in one piece, it has just passed it,s mot, with an advisory note that both parts are badly rusted, i got a quote for a new one and was shocked when told £900 all in fitted, does any one know if it,s possible to get a repair section so i can cut of from cat and weld on new section, or if the job can be done any cheaper, it seems a shame to scrap two perfectly good cats when a new part can be fitted from the cat back, any come across this problem before, i would be grateful of any help as i like the car. cheers

Who did you get a quote from? I'm assuming that you are talking about the mid-section?

Get a quote from Parts King to see if you get anything better. ;)

If you want, you could get a custom exhaust made really quite cheaply, and I'm sure that there are many people who know of exhaust specialists here.
