I joined TOC UK to get first hand news from another country on the Toyota Recalls. I run a public website called carquestions.ca and a Youtube channel called carquestions which has been getting a lot of inside information from US Toyota Techs. I'd like to know how much of a problem its been over here - my guess is lots of complaints once the media peddled the story but precious few real examples. Also you have 10 times the number of manual shift cars and that cuts the SUA complaints down to near zero. I've had a look at the pedal in particular and don't believe Toyota ever had a "real" problem with a part or system just a bad PR move. I have investigators reports on the Lexus crash and that information is incredible. And what I mean by that is it's incredible what the public wasn't told.

Hi and welcome to TOC UK

My car had the accelerator pedal recall work carried out last week. My car is an auto shift but frankly I am not convinced that being auto or manual makes any difference.

I felt that my car had a minor problem but only minor.... the problem was not worthy of the hype that the media made of it.

Anyway the work has been done. My dealer has given me a voucher to redeem at the time of my next service and Toyota UK are going to send me some shopping vouchers. I feel that Toyota have acted fairly and reasonably in this matter especially as it is not confined to Toyota cars..... yes other European manufactured cars have the offending part fitted but we have not heard of them being recalled

Interesting - I know the Mits Galant has it - do you know the make and models of the others?

Sadly I do not have evidence but it was suggested to me that a huge number of cars manufactured here in Europe have this part fitted  If correct it is not good :(
