if it's for a TNS700 you are sol anyway as your typical home drive can't burn the type of disc that the system uses.

Hello All,

Just used www.toyota-mapupdates.eu for the price of 2010 up date disc for the TNS300ETA SAT/NAV (Avensis MK11 2003 model) to be given part number and price for 2009 disc. Disc came to some €150 or £135, can any of you Toyota Tech's tell me why the crazy price. Am well aware of the prices for Garman, Tom Tom's etc etc. What's the story with these disc's.

Regards, Beagh.

This old chestnut again. Let's face it, Mr T is just trying to rip us off as it's the only place to legally get the discs from, hardly surprising if people get p***ed off and look to pirating discs. If you want to use a satnav, my advice is to buy a TomTom, it's far cheaper, stuff Mr T.

I agree its a total rip off. I was quoted £150. Its a joke.

I have to spend £150 each year for a new dvd if i want to update??

1) it's pointless updating every year - every 2 years would be more than enough should you so want.

2) the point of this forum is to allow a place for people to discuss their cars not to aid/condone/facilitate copyright infringement/theft.

3) as I mentioned earlier at least for a TNS700 you can't burn the working discs anyway even if you had access to a disk image.

Out of interest anybody know how much Ford/Vauxhall etc. charge to update their integrated satnav systems?

Just to see if Toyota are out of line or if they are all much of a muchness.

Two points....

i) These T's & C's are all very interesting but the only way of finding out if they are valid or not would be a ruling by a court: In Scotland that would be the local sheriff court. (Just because something is in a contract does not make it valid: EG if in a monthly-paid tenancy it says tenant must give 6-months notice, law over-rides this with need for only 1 month in SPT).

ii) Mr T's T's & C's refer to "The Consumer" (ie the bloke wot bought the DVD/updates), not the bloke wot stuffed 'em up on some bittorremt.. not Toyotaclubforums...

& re...

WHATS THE POINT OF THIS FORUM IF U CAN'T GET WHAT YOU WANT??

Just because, say, I WANT TO MURDER GORDON BROWN (? why do people feel the need to SHOUT in forums??) does not mean this forum should assist..

Cheers!!

2912pwil

PS And no, not all bittorrents are dodgy: The technology is used entirely legitimately by some organisations to distribute entirely legitimately available stuff...

1167 Views on this post. This has the to be one of the highest views on Avensis Club section. Its a shame they can't get what they want.

This is my last post on this forum as I have found another forum, not as big as this but much better than this. A forum where people actually help others get what they want. They have a section for maps for everyone to download which is what i wanted.

Anywaz all the best to everyone in here and god bless avensis.

This has occurred because the nav systems power supply has been interrupted, to "fix" the nav system needs to read a navigation disc either:

insert a navigation disc into the "map" cd slot and wait whilst the system boots

eject the navigation disc run a cd lens cleaner then re-insert the navigation disc and wait for boot

If neither of these work then there is a fault with the Navigation disc reader/system and you will need to repair or replace the unit.
