What is the recommended oil for Toyota Yaris Fun Cargo 1.3 lt petrol automatic transmission?

I'm not asking for a brand name really, more like should it be 5W/30 or 25W/50... etc... and SJ, CG or whatever...

Is it better to give her synthetic oil or is a mineral oil better?

Need a bit more really, as oil types depend on not just the car...but the way it's driven..and the environment it's driven in.

What do you use the car for? Short trips...long trips?

What's the average temperature...although....pretty nice in Malta I bet!

5W-30 for temps -29 to +38 degrees

use SJ, SL or ILSAC

Viper: the car's mainly driven short distances... Malta's only 40 km long! :D The temperature here may go as low as +2 celcius winter nights, but in August it goes as high as 42 centigrade! It's a difficult environment for a car really, this island is extremely hilly, I mean one is either going uphill or downhill all the time, very few roads are level, and some of the roads have that sign warning 10% gradient which means the hill is quite steepish...

I recently switched to Motul 4100 turbolight, Brilliant oil!!

We get extremes of heat but into some low Temps in winter, Although not as low as yours!

it's a 10-40 Semi synthetic, It has tottally changed the performance of the engine!

It's now really happy to rev to redline. Which it never was before, And I would swear it is accelerating a little faster.

U need a 5-30s in there i use a fully synthetic 5-40s thgat i get form work, Millers Oil, bit of a blast from the past but it really is good.
