Hot And Cold Gt4

hi all got a prblem with my gt4 185 its been in the garage and had the head gasket change which was fine i took the car out for a spin and after awhile the temp gauge went up the heater started blowing hot and the cold it seem to over heat when i was putting the car through its paces the car is back in the garage and a new stat as been put in but still having the same problem the garage is having trouble trying to find whats causing this

if anyone has had this problem or knows what is causing this would be very grateful to hear from you or anyone who has any advice for me

has the cooling system been bled properly? sounds like your getting air locks, also has the thermostat been installed correctly? the jiggle pin should be at the 12o'clock position

I agree it sounds like an airlock, have you sorted it?

I take it you stuck a hose pipe through the cooling system? After looking into my new and old block the blank on my old block was caked in dried out crap god knows how many bits was floating about in that system. My new block i stuck a power washer thru the system and the amount brown/orange crap that came out plus other rubbish was amazing so its worth a good clean out as someone on the gt4oc was getting over heating problems because his coolant system just needed a good clean out. Something very simple to start with. Can't wait to get a header tank and swirl pot in my system. lower temps minus airlocks.

His problem was on a 185 aswell just remember these systems are quite old these days, most likely air locks like the boys saying but certainly something worth doing.
