Hi!

I'm a bit curious, does anyone know what the lowest chassinumbers are on the TA12? When did they start exporting them from Japan? I have one that is the oldest one still registerd in Sweden (how about that, I own Swedens oldest Toyota Carina!), an I wonder how that compares to the rest of the world.

It's seriously interesting, how noone whatsoever wants to answer this. I've heard nothing from Toyota Sweden, Toyota USA, or from you, not a single word, not even a "Sorry, we can't help you". Either people are scared of old cars, or they are just not interested...

If it's any help, I believe that I might have found out that the term chassinumber is not correct in "your" language, it should be VIN?

I have no idea about about the lowest number tho...

But i would like to see some pictures!! thumbsup.gif

There used to be a very good website that could tell you when/where/destination Market and spec your car was made by using the VIN/Chassis number. Unfortunately it was closed down in June 2009.

A Google search using your Chassis number may reveal more information for you.

I suggest that a lack of reply on forums such as this suggests that there is not an answer to give

As for being scared of old cars I think you are certainly wrong. There is a healthy classic car scene over here and I am part of it, have a look at my signature :)

More here (on a Toyota Club Sweden, hence the strange language): http://www.toyotaclubsweden.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=711&start=40

Old Red Celica: Do you mean Stephos website? It was reuploaded to another host: http://members.iinet.net.au/~stepho/index.html

The earliest number in his reference is 23893 @ July 1971, while mine is 22879, so no "luck" in finding that there.

Phoenix999: You're probably right. I thought maybe someone here might find something in some old register or something, but I guess I'm better off trying to reach Toyota Sweden or Toyota Worldwide with this query. Sadly they (both) are very hard to get a hold of.

But thanks for your replies!

Now that is a classic! Very nice little car and near perfect condition other that the YOTA Badge :P ;)

Oh well, looks can decieve. There is quiet a bit of rust on it, lots of surface rust on the doors, a smaller hole in the engine bay, next to the right strut-whateveritscalledinenglish, and a quiet big one (10x20 cm maybe), where the ground can be closely examined, next to the attatchment for the jack in the boot.

The plan is to completely strip it from paint with some sort of clever chemical, and then fix all the rust (exclusively by welding), and thereafter galvanizing the entire body, doors, hood, fenders and so on.

I'm also looking for fenders for it (I found one actually), as the current ones are made from plastic, and doesen't fit whatsoever, ugly as hell...

ah same happened with me too, took the car apart and realised why it cost £500.... :(
