Mpg And Spare Key

I wonder if anyone can help me, my MPG is around 23.5, this is only town driving, is this about right?? It was at 27 but I think that was during the summer, it seemed to have droped quite a bit in the last 6 months. Would it make this much difference between summer and winter? On the motorway it is getting about 33 at 70 mph which I am not complaining about at all. The other thing is a spare key, I only have one key and Toyota want to charge me £170 for a new one. Is there a cheaper way of doing it??

Cheers all

Hiya I've a 4.2 but its a D4D & I get a consistent 43 mpg urban or motor way only plus or minus 1mpg, unless I'm towing a heavy trailer or have top box on!

My plastic key fob is bust do I have to buy a whole new one wiv electrics?

How's Smiffy, Gavin & Stacy?

Thanks guys

I thought about replacing my key with just a key to open the doors manually and start the car but am not sure if the alarm will be activated without the fob??? key alone without fob is £60..

Squealeyhealey if the insides are still good, you just need to buy a new key with empty fob and put your insides in, look on fleabay, very cheap...

Smiffy, Gav and Stacey have left..................... for now..

Just ordered a key fob ofn E-Bay for a fiver delivered from Hong Kong--you take the insides out of your broken fob get the new key cut and Robert is your relative.

All this is what is supposed to happen, still waiting for the postie--I'm willing to risk a fiver, worst case is sixty notes to Mr T. so allowing for the key to be cut I could have saved

about £50 or a new one will have cost me £65 !!!!

Update on yesterday-- the key fob arrived this morning and the insides fit perfectly --the fob works [locking and unlocking the doors]

just need to get the blank cut now--all looking good up to press , that £50 saved will buy a lot of Guinness this weekend in Dublin!

Ha ha, enjoy the Guinness... I think i am going to do the same. I think the previous owner snapped the key so now i have the fob on its own and a seperate key without fob so will get a blank with fob and have that cut and programmed and then put the insides in and just keep the key as a spare.

Can anyone tell me what the story is with disableing the alarm?, i tried to unlock the door with my key that has no fob and it unlocks the door and it opens but the alarm goes off....

As i said before, i only have one keyless entry fob and instead of paying MR T £170 for a new one, i can repair the one i have and keep the plain key as a spare but just want to make sure i can use a key without a fob??

Cheers

I done the same recently. £5 for a blank key with fob, £1 for key to be cut, swap over transmitter and Robert is indeed your relative. Toyota wanted £170
