Full Lock- Groan Coming From Power Steering (help)

Full lock today when moving the car out of a space- sounded like a note blown over the top of a milk bottle.

It has been squeeky before when turning (sounded like plastic rubbing against rubber)

What could it be? Is it greasable?

Anyone experienced this?

PS fluid fine

Tyre PSI fine (I put 31 psi in yesterday- thats fine?)

Belt slipping?

The alternator belt was squeeling like crazy throughout my testdrive. The independent garage replaced this with a aftermarket belt as part of the sale. Could it be this you mean?

groan and squeak normally indicates belt slipping.

try putting in 33 psi in the front,

What colour is the fluid ?

Power steering always makes a different noise if held in full lock, the pressure relief valve opens and the fluid recircultes. This is normal to prevent pressure building too high as there is nowhere for the fluid to go once the lock stop is reached. Are you sure it isn't just this normal noise?

My Avensis D4D 2007 is making an odd noise...like a rubbing sound on near full lock.

I recently took it for a service and when I drove it away it was making a real noise. I stopped to take a look and found that the power steering hose, which runs parallel to the engine cover had become caught when the cover was refitted. On load the hose may be rubbing against the engine cover. It may be worth a look.

Regards
