Handbrake Adjustment.

In our previous cars the handbrake's ratchet mechanism gives you a progressive bite and tactile feedback when you pull the lever up. On our iQ3 the handbrake is really only biting when it's pulled right up to and on the maximum limit of the pull. Sometimes the car groans and squeaks a bit if you are on an incline, almost as if it's saying "I can't hold onto this wire one-handed for much longer". Is that actually right and the way it's meant to work?

When I was in the dealer a couple of weeks ago they had an iQ3 on the showroom floor. I tried its handbrake and it seemed to bite much earlier. When I pointed that out he said the showroom car has not had its PDI yet so it's not correctly adjusted. He might be right and I've no idea of knowing otherwise but from where I sit, if you need to pull a handbrake so it's almost as erect as a flagpole then something's not quite right. Comments?
