Waht Oil For The 2.0 Diesel ?

Ok.. my Astra SRi diesel is going to be part chopped for a 2008 Auris T-Spirit sometime this month...

I have a fair old ammount of VXL fully synthetic engine oil ( its 5w/30 )...

would this be ok to use in the Auris?

Also, as a member of the astra owners forum, they were able to negotiate trade club discounts at the dealers for members... Do we have anything like that here?

It meant you could buy the parts for a service at trade, and then pay labour only.. saved a load of cash ( which is why i still have the oil left! )

Hi, it depends how old is the oil and what spec. I would recommend to check with your dealer what did they put in and buy something similar (it appears not all Toyota dealers use 5W30 as they sometimes sell 10W40 over the counter).

You can buy Toyota service plan from many dealers. Just ask about it. I think VXL policy is put the prices as high as possible and then give people "discounts". The parts are not that expensive but labour charges are insane. That was my experience at least.

When I gave Toyota my reg and asked for the recommended oil for my car, they gave me Semi-synthetic 5w30.

cool..this may well be ok then... i may only use it to 'top up' though...

whats your 2.0 like for oil usage?

I've only had mine for a year, but I went through a 1L bottle topping up. My style of driving is completely mix. Town to motorway, fast and slow. Personally I can live with having to carry 1L bottle to top up with. I wait till its dropped a quarter of a litre and top then. I.E. 4 times a year.
