I had a bit of a problem getting my IQ started this morning... it just would not fire up... it kept turning over and turning over till in the end i thought maybe I can reset things by locking and unlocking the doors again... that seemed to work and it started..

Are they any other IQ owners who've had a similiar problem and what could have cause that problem?

Talked to the service engineer at Toyota today... He says it could be a dodgy batch of fuel as hes never know that to happen with IQs before....just run it through and fill it up with decent petrol... but if it persists bring it in and they'll do some checks.

immobiliser?

A couple of time I've stalled ours. Bugger if I could not get the engine to restart. In the end I had to stop, handbrake on, neutral, wait a moment, clutch in, and then it restarted. When you've got a small queue of cars backing up behind you it gets a bit frustrating. Otherwise no problems.

The stop/start engine restart works really well though.

Yes I have had that problem (IQ2), except i touch the button with the clutch down and nothing happens (no turn over - lights come on but nobodys home!). It's happens a few times to me now - Last time it happened i got out locked the doors unlocked the doors etc and even that didn't work. Took 15 minutes to get it to start. Think it might have something to do with the steering lock? If it happens again i'm phoning Toyota. Sure it shouldn't be happening in a 6 month old car, but paranoid it's just me being thick and not doing something right (hence holding off on the call)!

Mmmmm I've never had this happen with any of my past or present Smart Cars and they're supposed to be unrealiable!
