Service Year Service Question

Hi , my second year service is due , i have just received a reminder from my dealership , they informed me that they recommend that the brake fluid should also be changed every 2 years in addition to the service , the cost all in for the second year service plus brake fluid change is £243.95 , as its only a recommendation i'm thinking of not having the brake fluid changed this year , bringing the cost down to £189 , just wondering how long you can go without having the brake fluid changed , and whether or not it would effect the warranty which runs out next year in any case . I'm not one for compromising safety but would have thought that the brake fluid would be good for at least another year . Anyone have any thoughts / advice on this .

Brake fluid change after 2 years is standard now for almost every manufacturer. You can keep you brake fluid longer and that doesn't affect the brake power. In older cars I used to change it every 3-4 years and it was OK. You must check what about warranty if you decide to leave it.

Yeh i also think its laughable and if i didn't i think i'd cry i used to think that running my cab was expensive ... £243.95 for a second year service on an Auris .. Their avin a laaaaugh .

I phoned another dealer who quoted me £222.27 all in , however they said that if i didn't want the brake fluid changed the price would still be £222.27 how does that work ? i did ask this dealer if my warranty would be compromised if i declined the brake fluid change and they said that it would not .
