Quick Help - Celica 2001 Air A/c Smell

Hi all,

just a quick question hoping its not too much trouble...

i have started noticing a slight moist / damp smell coming out of my vents only when the AC is on cold air.....my guess is mould growth or the filter refiner is in need fo cealning or replacing. I am going to check this now and hope its something i can sort out now.....without any difficulty.

The fact that the smell istn that potent yet gives me hope that its not an infestation of crap building up in my vent system.

Any advice from people who have tackled this before on their celica's is much appreciated......

I am familar with certain gas spray and stuff but are these worth it if cleaning the refiner doesnt work?

I had a problem on my Avensis. I think people said it was because it wasn't used regularly i.e. winter.

I got the advice from the Avensis section of this site and it worked well.

Involves boiling a kettle in your car or using a steamer with the aircon on and set to recirc.

I know it sounds a bit dodgy but it did work for me and many others.

Have a search to get the info.
