Faulty Central Locking

i went out out to my avensis today, pushed the central locking to open the car, red light came on, but central locking did'nt work. opened with the key and the alarm went off. started the car with the key and the alarm went on for about 20 seconds more then stopped. does anyone have any ideas or a fix please. thanks all

The key fob remote works on a rolling code to unlock the car to prevent it being copied, sometimes this code gets out of sync.

The way to re sync varies from year to year, let us all know which model and year and the answer should be forthcoming.

Hi I also have the same issue. indicators flash when unlocking and locking but central locking not working.

Tried the resync method as per owners manual. The interior light works. Also the spare fob has same issue so I have ruled out faulty Battery.

I have avensis cdx 1.8 1998 R Reg

Any ideas?

Disconnected car Battery which has resolved the issue.
