Engine Noise On The Radio

The radio on my 2001 Avensis picks up a lot of interference from the engine (on certain MW/AM stations only).

The noise gets louder at higher engine speed, and makes the radio unlistenable whenever the accelerator is depressed.

The dealer has tried to fix it about 6 times. But has now announced it cannot be fixed and is a problem of all Avensises.

Does anyone know about this ?/able to offer advise ?

Thanks much.

Your dealers speaking crap (as usual), Your radio is missing a little bit of electronic kit called a supressor (or it's broke). If your cars under warranrty, make them give you a new radio.

What the above person said.......

Question....did you just change the spark plugs?

Most often thats where the sound is coming from. That's why it changes with the RPM of the motor.

It's a simple fix.

Have a similar problem. The dealer couldnt do anything except tell me to change stations. I have been told that probably the radio is not properly grounded and that any car stereo shop can fix it. Havent gotton around to it though so dont know yet.
