Apologies as it's not specific to RAV's but BBC2 9pm has a prog about the recent recall. Wonder if Anchs is on (again) ?

I was wondering whether you were referring to the program or to Anchs...

Anyway, watched it last night and it wasn't toooo bad. But what the producers should have done is a balanced comparison with other manufacturers and their recall problems.

And just heard on the radio that Toyota are stopping some production because of the dip in sales after the recalls.

Did bring back bad memories though - I had to do a 1 hour standup presentation in front of 100 folk on Kaizen as part of my engineering degree. And there was only one book on it in the library. A long, painful hour was had by all.

Anyway, heavy snow is forecast for next Tuesday. So I won't unload my winter survival gear and might get to play in the snow for a bit. But then it is the BBC's forecast and it is notoriously unreliable.

And Suzuki have allegedly all but stopped imports to the UK till the next price rise because of the fall of the pound and its effect on the profitability of UK sales.

In fairness to Toyota, the dip in sales may not be demand related. Did they not withdraw affected models until the fix had been applied? ISTR seeing stickers on windscreens saying something along the lines of 'not to be sold'.

Must be frustrating for the dealers.

I thought it wasn't a bad report. It made a change from the propaganda we've seen of late.

There are always going to be inconsistencies. Whenever there is anything about railways they always get the companies and the facts wrong but I thought it was good in that it showed how Toyota have always built on reliability and quality. If anything I thought Toyoda didn't help by going a bit dramatic with his apologies. He held Toyota a bit too responsible for supplier problems. These faulty throttle units are bought in and maybe that manufacturer should be a bit more accountable.

I still think I run the best made car available and this one I've got now is a gem.

Anchs

I admire your allegiance to a single brand,

I felt really let down with the specimen Toyota sold me it certainly

didn't live up to my expectations with Quality!

the vehicle I am driving now is every thing the RAV should have been!

Hope your new RAV turns out to be a cracker! nice colour,

Heyup Frank

Nice to hear from you.

I guess there are other brans that I might try but I don't think I'd be lured away from far eastern brands so easily.

I'm a creature of habit and I tend to get a feeling of comfort from what "going for what I know".

I'm glad you're enjoying yours. I remember Steve from Aberdeen swore by his.

Regards.

Must say I was very impressed with RRG, the Stockport Toyota dealer last week - my T180 was in for a service and they found a very minor oil leak from the timing cover- not a drop on my garage floor as I had a very close look later.

Booked it in, (when it suited me for the week after Easter), to remove the engine and rectify leak - courtesy car will be provided - I think any other car maker's dealer would have said " lets leave it for a bit and see if it get worse before we decide what to do"

My wife's Auris had the accelerator mod done on the same day, well within hour stated and it was returned washed.

Last time I needed an engine out was on a brand new Rover SD1 - engine 'rumbled' after a couple of hundred miles (obviously main bearings) - dealer said he could hear nothing wrong! Only after some very sharp words and I had a bit (to say the least) buying power for vehicles in those far off days, did they agree that Rover should check the engine, they did and imediately put in a brand new one.
