New To Auris 2.0 D4D

Hi All

I've recently bought a 2007 2.0TR D4D Auris.

I just have a couple of questions mainly to ascertain if this is 'normal' for the Auris and about the recent recalls!!

I am on the whole happy with the car!!!!!!!!!

1)When i have a full tank of fuel i can hear a sloshing sound, at first i thought it was the brakes!! Is this normal???

2)I am a community nurse and I do a fair bit of 'town' driving and short journeys, can be less than 1-2 miles between patients, i am really disappointed at the mpg i am getting averaging 35mpg, is this normal??

3) The range does not seem to be accurate, i.e 370miles on a full tank.

4) My handbrake does not appear to hold that well, i really have to pull it up hard for it to hold, which is rather scarey when i live in a VERY hilly area!

5)I have a really annoying rattling sound which appears to be coming from the steering wheel/dash.

re recalls

was my Auris one of the models that was recalled for a steering wheel problem, if so what was the problem??

i have had the accelerator recall done, they did wash my car, but no mention of free fuel or anything else!!

I would appreciate feedback as i don't want to come across as a dumb blonde to the dealers and the car is out of manufacturers warranty in a couple of months and if anything needs attention i'd rather get it done sooner rather than later!

Thanks

Dee

Ok lets review your points:

1) yes if you search a bit you will see other people complaining about it not my case but I don't think you can do anything about it I think you just have to get used to it

2) I cannot tell you much about the consumptions because I don't have an 2.0 D4D I will leave that with the other guys but I also think its rather high but all depends of the driving

3) Yes another bug computer is never accurate once again not much to do about it. But I noticed that he sort of "learns" so it may give you more accurate readings anyway nothing u can do here either

4) That yes should have a check up we have had reports of cars disappearing from drive way :D doesn't affect all cars but you should have a look at it and for now just keep the car in gear (Reverse if you park down hill 1st, 2nd or any other if up hill)

5) Another common bug in the Auris you should complain but if it happens like me the noises will return sooner or later then disappear, later return and so on. But ask them to have a look at it.

Waht you mention is the steering column they should know this at Toyota ask them to check if your car SN is included in their list.

Point 2 ONLY:

The MPG is correct as Diesels take an age to get warm and your usage is worst possible for MPG i.e start stop, if you have a long run planned then you should see much better figures

I picked my 2.0 diesel t-spirit up monday (Not a new one, but with 35,000 on the clock)... but my drive is very different to yours.

I do 45-50 miles to work and back each day, but 90% of that is motorway.

Cruising at a steady 70-75 for this week and my trip computer is stuck at 56mpg...

Er, my professional opinion is the following: If you do less than 16,000 miles per annum the Petrol is cheaper to run, where it’s a private and not a company car.

However, it depends what you like personally if it was a 1.6 16v petrol or a 2.0 D4D i would buy the Diesel because i prefer the way they drive but i do 40-50,000 miles a year and a high revving petrol engined car would make my ears bleed

5)I have a really annoying rattling sound which appears to be coming from the steering wheel/dash.

This is the case around the speedo / clocks and this just clips in on 4 clips which dont hold it 100% tight which in turn creates the rattle. If you apply pressure when this rattles you will find this stops, take it back to MR T and I am sure they will this this very easily for you
