hi again

quick question if anyone can help, i took delivery of my new Verso on monday a 2.2 D-cat auto. when i picked it up i thought id fill it up with diesel and it took £62.00 to fill up, the thing that concerns me is the the range showing on the on board computer is showing a range of 287 miles filled to the brim is this correct??

The range will be calculated based upon the the last few miles driving. If this was at 56mph on a flat road then your average MPG will be high and the range of the fuel in the tank high. If you were putting the engine under a high load (e.g. driving up hills, high revs) then the MPG will be lower and the range lower. I would only use any of the trip computer functions as a rough guide and not an absolute. Under mixed average driving conditions you should get 400+ miles from a full tank in a Verso.

Hi Thanks for that,

i only picked the car up on monday and it'd only done 4 miles, was just worried as our corolla used to give a range of 430 miles when filled up.tbh at the moment its only been driven locally to school and back but the bars have not dropped from the full mark and its done 96 miles so far.

thanx for that

I wondered that as well because £50 of diesel only came up as a range of 340 on my Verso picked up yesterday with 8 miles on the clock.

It frightened me was thinking it's gonna cost a fortune to run and it's a diesel

A bigger tank admittedly but when I fill up my 2.7d Jag the range comes up at around the 600 mile mark

I've just returned from a 2000 mile trip around northern France in my 2009 2.0D (manual) - I kept a careful check on the mileage - the trip computer indicated an average for the whole trip (a lot of motorway cruising at 130kph) of 49.5mpg but brim to brim tank refilling showed a true 47mpg.

The diesel only has a 55 litre fuel tank (12 gallons give or take) - so the DTE when full should have indicated 550 - 600 miles, however it invariably registered 480 miles or thereabouts immediately after refilling - and was increasingly pessimistic as the tank ran down.

I was very pleased with the performance overall - but I really don't have a lot of confidence in the trip computer!

I have a 2-2 D4D Auto Verso and have done about 6000 miles !! after a fill up I am getting about 340 miles range on the computer and according to the on-board computer I am getting about 35 miles to the gallon which to be honest is pretty disappointing !!

I expect the mileage I achieve to go up as the engine beds in as this is what seems to happen with Toyota`s.

The tank on the new Verso is a small tank and a fill up costs about £35 to £40 .

Torque converter auto`s are not that fuel efficient but just be glad that they did not use the MMT on it as on the previous Verso

i hope so at the moment its showing 24.1 mpg and is very disappointing but im due to go to kent in a few weeks so will have to see as it goes, as for mmt i would never have them i had a yaris tspirit in mmt and i wasnt very keen on that,

Ive got the 1.6 Valvematic which is doing around 37 mpg. Ive noticed though that the fuel range and tank level scale to be be very pessimistic. Once showing empty and a range of 0 miles left I can get no more than 50 litres in the tank, meaning I have at least 10 litres/80 miles left.

right after 248 miles, all local driving with a very light foot the range is showing 11 miles and the avg mpg is 24.7 i am so dissappointed in that.my brother has a vw sharan and he reckons his car gives him 32.5. any advice would be appreciated am i doing something wrong???/

fill up and see how many litres it takes to brim the tank - giving you the real amount of fuel used and MPG. Will need some running in obviously, my 1.6 petrol has increased 4-5 average mpg in the first 5 k miles.

No wonder your disappointed even my auto 2.7 diesel Jaguar does more than that around town, not trying to rub salt into the wound but the 2.0d Verso is showing 54mpg average.

As has been said by Jamesmatic, don't judge the consumption by the trip computer - fill the tank & calculate the mpg from the amount of fuel you have to add to refill the tank - it may be even worse than the computer indicates :-) but I'd hope that it is rather less thirsty than you think. If it really is giving that sort of mpg then I suggest you should query with your dealer whether there is something amiss.

thats what im intending to do, will be filling it up later so will work it from there and compare the difference. if there is no improvement will definately have a word with Mr. t

right then have jusr returned from filling the car up. took it right up to the brim as previously and it took 44.38 litres and showed an avg of 24.9 mpg.does this sound about right or is it excessive??

Without a doubt theres something wrong there, get it back to the dealer.

I agree - that really isn't acceptable.

had to make a trip to manchester airport this morning never paid attention to the fuel but on my return i flicked thru the computer and it showed a range of 233 miles avg mpg 33.9 and this was after 107miles and gone down by 1 bar.so this seems a lot better. i spoke to the dealer i bought the car from and he basically said with my local driving of approx 20 mph schoool run etc and climbing hills all day its probably correct and to keep an eye on it and see what happens after next fill

car is mainly used for school run so it is generally stop, start and climbing steep hills where we live, however im still not convinced wth that answer so will wait and see what i get from this fill up

Have you tried resetting the avg mpg and have a very gentle drive to see what is the max mpg you can achieve ?

I`ve already had mine up to 60mpg avg.

To be honest 33.9 is not to far from what I am achieving despite the combined figures from Toyota of 41 MPG

Haway give me some credit, Im well aware of that,

I was only giving an example of what is possible with economical driving.

hi

i reset it after each fill. on the very first fill it was low but now on the second fill seems a bit better total mileage on the verso is around 320 now so tiime will tell as im keeping a close eye on it.

then again looking at the new tax bands i think i made the right decision on buying the verso and not something like the zafira etc as they have shot up on the tax band :rolleyes::rolleyes: stick to toyota :toast::toast::toast: i say.to be honest i wouldnt have bought anything other than toyota anyway.

anywqay will keep the post updated as the miles roll on.

Sorry I did not mean to cause offence with my comments :( but having owned a diesel 2-2 D4D manual and achieving about 50 mpg and now I am just getting about 35 mpg on the auto 2-2 I was trying to make the point that the automatic is not as fuel efficient as the manual box and 50 mpg is just a dream to us automatic Verso owners . :crybaby:

I think if you are getting about 35 mpg that is the about the best you will get it may improve with a few miles under your bonnet !! on my last fill up the range was 363 miles but that be based on your previous driving conditions :)
