dervdave I would think yours is the manual 2-0 diesel Verso !! the Verso 2-2 diesel Auto is a different beast

Haway give me some credit, Im well aware of that,

I was only giving an example of what is possible with economical driving.

Dervdave

Sorry I did not mean to cause offence with my comments :( but having owned a diesel 2-2 D4D manual and achieving about 50 mpg and now I am just getting about 35 mpg on the auto 2-2 I was trying to make the point that the automatic is not as fuel efficient as the manual box and 50 mpg is just a dream to us automatic Verso owners . :crybaby:

I think if you are getting about 35 mpg that is the about the best you will get it may improve with a few miles under your bonnet !! on my last fill up the range was 363 miles but that be based on your previous driving conditions :)

No offense taken my friend ;)

Just can`t understand why the 2.2d is so relatively uneconomical, as I indicated earlier in the thread even my automatic 2.7d Jaguar is getting better mpg (35-40)

35 mpg (8 litres/100km) is what I get on a 1.6 petrol manual 2005 on a combined drive

the car is 2 metric tons so I expected that kind of consumption for a 1.6 engine, diesels have more torque and should have better consumption

one day I'll learn to listen to diesel engines, I still don't like their rumble

I moved from a Honda CRV with the 2.2 ctdi engine, hailed as one of the most refined diesels. After test driving the 1.6 valvematic, then returning home along the same route as the test drive, I was astounded how loud and agricultural the diesel actually was - id just got used to it.

Add in DPF issues, egr issues, dual mass flywheel issues, petrol is cheaper and latest engines not far behind in MPG - and its petrol all the way for me
