Rav 4 Brakes

Hi Guys,

Just signed up to the Toyota owners club so that I can get some advice and find out about other toyota users. I have a RAV4 which is a fantastic vehicle, It is 4 years old with about 12k on the clock.

Over the last few months I have noticed that when braking, the vehicle slows as if the ABS is on in slow motion. A kind of jerking sensation as the car brakes. At first I thought it was the suspension bouncing on uneven road, as I braked but that is not it. I have booked my RAV in for a check up but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and what to expect from the garage, with whom I have always been very happy with.

Sounds like warped brake discs to me, but would admit I am surprised at only 12k miles....?

Big Kev

Hi Guys,

It is booked in for the garage to have a look, hopefully it might just need new disc pads. I will let you know.

The rear brakes are often the culprits on those 4.2s.

Hi Guys,

I had to have both front discs replaced. apparently one was warped and blue. Probably overheated due to sticking pad and buckled it.

Anyway at the moment it seems to have fixed the problem but I am having to 'run in' the new pads.

Thanks for your help and advice,

Cheers,

Pete
