Id heard some horror stories on non toyota ones, ive 250k on my carina and need to replace it but didn't want to pay the £99 toyota price

It's fairly straight forward to change on most cars it can be a little more tricky with the automatic tensioners but should'nt cause too many probs.

I bought non Toyota timing belt and tensioner when I did that job, before the headgasket went. It was a straight forward work. It is a bit tricky becuase there is not much space for tools and mine big hands at the timing belt side of engine.

The last two toyota belts I've changed the tensioner ran smoothly, so I didn't bother replacing it.

I wouldn't have any concerns about aftermarket.
