Yup... I can better that. My twelve year old Rav 4.1 just sailed through the MOT... no advisories as I spotted the drivers window wiper blade rubber split before the MOT. New blade and rubber from the 'Range' for £2.99 Double chuffed! :yahoo: ;)

I didn't think the rear wiper was a MOTable item?

Prob why it was just an advisory?

I believe some items are not required for an MOT but if they are fitted, must pass the test - Spare Wheel is one I think?

The spare wheel is not a tested item but if it is in the vehicle and the examiner inspects it and found to be defective he/she must inform the presenter of the vehicle.

some worrying stuff there....

So the MINIMUM tyre tread depth I think is 1.6mm for a car but ....

If your car is "- A vehicle first used before 3 January 1933...." you only need a minimum of 1mm. ok, so different standards way back when.

but .... "A passenger-carrying vehicle with more than 8 passenger seats excluding the driver's seat."

Shouldn't the standards be higher if anything?? :help:

Very interesting reading, is worth keeping hold of to carry out some extra basic checks prior to sending any car in for an MOT.
