Hi to All, I got my car about 7 months ago and the only niggle with it is when it rains and you open the boot to put something in, water drips into the boot, I've put chrome embellish round edge of rear screen, used water repellent, which is good by the way but to no avail.

I was wondering if anyone had approached a dealer over this problem and if they have what was the outcome, My car is a 3dr Aygo Platinum by the way, I know some members posted some time ago about this problem but would be interested if anyone had actually managed a fix.

Aygo's are like siv's! the amount of modified seals and carpets i have fitted to these things!

If your car is still under warranty take it to your local toyota garage and they will replace your door and boot seals, put the modified weather seal that runs above your doors in the door shuts, modified door speaker rain shields and if your carpets ruined a new carpet :)

I think this is more of a design fault than a problem with the seals - I'm guessing you're only seeing water drop in when you open the boot? The water slides off the glass and into the car, something that happens a lot on other cars but isn't quite as obvious. Hopefully they'll rectify this design fault (if that's what it is) when they make the new Aygo...

If you think water dripping in from the boot glass is a problem with the Aygo, try living with a Puma (speaks from experience)!

I use the boot four times each working day.

The boot lid design is a major cokk up by Toyota.

It's a pain in the hass every rainy day for me - and I've told Toyota.

Simply a poor design by Toyota/Peugeot/Citroen, Its certainly not the only car that has this type of problem with having a glass hatch.

Hi, Yes I wasn't on about water ingress past seals, up to now bone dry. It is a design fault, I can see that but thought someone may have approached there dealer about it, i can see up to now it looks like no one has so I'll ask my dealer next time I'm passing them.

That has been mentioned a million times before, as mentioned above, most types of car with a glass hatch suffer in the same way, I think Peugeot/Citroen/Toyota are well aware of it

Thanks for replies, I know its a long shot but I still intend to mention it to my dealer to see if they have come up with a fix, i doubt it but you never no.

Yeah, I reckon Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1 owners get the same problem, as I said, hopefully the three manufacturers will work on it for the next model. It can be really really annoying, particularly if you're in the boot looking for something, thinking you're safe from the rain, and then "Ohhhh" you get a big splash of rain right down the neck :P

Defo a design flaw. Its got nothing to do with the seals. The only other car I used to drive was a Fiat Cinquecento Sporting, and it had the same flat rear boot door. Except the only difference is the Aygo door is just a glass panel. The problem can be solved if Toyota manages to make a thin rubber strip to attach at the top of the glass panel. Tus every time you open the door the water runs down the glas panel and then the rubber strip will act like a chanel, and let the water run to towards the edge of the glass door.

the rubber strip will act like a chanel, and let the water run to towards the edge of the glass door.

If it's more than a drizzle this won't work, as the hinges sit atop the glass.

When the water rusn down to the sides it gets to the hinge and

then a stream of water will run onto the parcel shelf as the glass

is further away from the car at the hinges when opened...

IMHO it's the design of the hinges that's the problem: if the glass would

swing up more or more towards the roof any water would run off above

the seal and then be channeled away over the body of the car.

Bu that would require larger, more expensive hinges...

Good input, Jan. I ve never really had to open my rear hatch that often but when it does rain ot can be a bit of a pain.
